Some men came from Judea and began teaching the believers, “You cannot be saved unless you are circumcised according to the practice handed down by Moses.”

Paul and Barnabas strongly opposed them, and a serious debate followed. The church arranged for Paul, Barnabas, and some others to go up to Jerusalem and bring this question before the apostles and elders.

The church sent them on their way. As they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told in detail how Gentiles had turned to God. Their account brought great joy to all the believers.
