Available in the English, Spanish and Kiswahili readers

Word study is installed in all 123 available English chapters (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts and Romans 1–6), all 121 Spanish chapters (through Romans 4), and 28 Kiswahili Matthew chapters. Both Greek and Romanized Greek open the same entry. Spanish draft labels remain in place.

An aid to reading, not a replacement translation

A dictionary definition gives possible meanings. Context determines which sense applies in a verse. Grammar helps us ask better questions; it should not be used to force a theological conclusion. Present tense does not always describe the present moment, and an aorist does not by itself mean “once for all.”

Our sources and attribution

Greek text

Guardian Press, The Greek New Testament According to the Byzantine Text, edited and prepared by J. Jeffrey Dodson and Dwayne Green, following Robinson–Pierpont Byzantine Textform 2026. The publisher declares this edition public domain. It remains our controlling Greek source. View source

Grammatical analysis

Maurice A. Robinson’s BYZPRSD, Robinson–Pierpont 2000 parsed text. The provider releases these files into the public domain and requests attribution. We match its older text to the 2026 wording before displaying a result; we do not replace our Greek with the older edition. View source

Definitions

John Jeffrey Dodson’s Greek–English Lexicon, with digital preparation by Ulrik Sandborg-Petersen and the Biblical Humanities contributors. The repository declares the lexicon public domain and includes CC0 1.0. The dictionary uses repository revision 74f70358d4ac. Definitions are currently in English. View source

How we check the words

We compare the complete sequence of Greek words in each verse with BYZPRSD 2000, after removing accent and breathing marks, case distinctions and punctuation and normalizing final sigma. We do not use approximate matches. Additional or ambiguous source annotations cause us to withhold the whole verse’s parsing. Unreviewed parsing codes are withheld word by word. Romanized words are linked by position only when their count agrees with the unchanged Greek. This automated alignment is not an independent scholarly review of every source annotation.

The Spanish reader contains 86,642 Greek word occurrences: 83,261 have parsing and 3,381 are flagged as unavailable. With Romans 5–6 added, the English reader contains 87,446 occurrences: 84,005 have parsing and 3,441 are flagged as unavailable. A dashed underline marks unavailable parsing. A double underline marks an aligned word whose dictionary entry is unavailable. These counts describe occurrences, not unique vocabulary. Some older Strong’s numbers describe inflected forms; only explicitly reviewed mappings to dictionary lemmas are used, and the original number is retained. The initial 29-verse pilot was checked against the 2026 PDF; this expansion does not claim a fresh PDF review of every verse.

En español

Toque una palabra subrayada en griego o en griego romanizado para abrir el mismo análisis sin salir del pasaje. La herramienta está disponible en los 121 capítulos publicados: Mateo, Marcos, Lucas, Juan, Hechos y Romanos 1–4. La línea discontinua indica que el análisis no está disponible; la línea doble indica que falta la entrada de diccionario. Las definiciones están en inglés por ahora. Esta ayuda no sustituye la paráfrasis ni decide por sí sola la interpretación.

What comes next

We will review flagged matches, add vocabulary explanations and extend coverage as new chapters are published. This feature changes only the website; printed interlinear volumes retain their approved format.

Kwa Kiswahili · Dictionary drafts for review

Uchunguzi wa maneno unapatikana katika Mathayo 1–28. Gusa Kigiriki au herufi zake za Kilatini ili kufungua ingizo lilelile. Maana za kamusi kwa Kiswahili ni rasimu kwa uhakiki; maandishi yaliyokamilika ya Biblia hayajabadilishwa. Ufafanuzi wa awali wa Kiingereza unaonyeshwa pia kwa kulinganisha.

The Kiswahili reader now includes word study in all 28 chapters of Matthew: 18,742 Greek word occurrences, with parsing available for 18,111 and 631 flagged as unavailable. Its 1,654 dictionary entries include draft Kiswahili brief and full definitions produced with Google Translate from Dodson’s public-domain English definitions, with targeted editorial corrections. These drafts have not received complete native-speaker or author approval. The original English definitions remain available for comparison. This draft designation applies to the dictionary definitions, not the completed Kiswahili biblical text.
